Dr. Edwards and his brother, Mike, spent a recent weekend in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They went to a Wake Forest basketball game vs. North Carolina, an annual rivalry between the two basketball powerhouses. The former coach, Skip Prosser, was a close friend of Dr. Edwards and Mike. Skip passed away a few years ago from a sudden heart attack and his loss was severely felt throughout the basketball world and at Wake Forest. A tribute to Skip of ten of his King’s Point friends, who remained close to him, was organized for the weekend. Each of the King’s Pointers had a black T-shirt with a gold letter on the front that spelled out W-A-K-E-F-O-R-E-S-T and K-I-N-G-S-P-O-I-N-T on the back in white letters. The basketball game was nationally televised on CBS and the tribute was added to the broadcast with the lad’s doing their about-face maneuver and tipping their Gillian’s Island hats to the crowd. It went over well with the announcers and the viewing public. There is a video of the maneuver below (it’s also on YouTube) where you can see the boys at work.
At some point there will hopefully be a movie about Skip’s life and legacy and the antics that occurred over the weekend where filming was done about Skip’s impact.
